Find Out More about this Interactive Irish Cultural Activity

Many inbound tour groups to Cork have chosen the Céilí Experience as a highlight of their visit to Ireland.

Here’s what participants have said:

> “Definitely the highlight of my trip to Ireland. I’d recommend it to everyone to give it a go.” – Caitlin, Maine, USA
> “I’d never danced before. It was great fun learning the dances with my friends.” – Jamie, Edmonton, Canada

Fionán Cogan, from Carrigaline, Co. Cork, is a qualified Céilí dance teacher (T.M.R.C.) who began dancing at age 5. He has performed around the world since 1988 and has been teaching formally since 1994.

He has shared the stage with legends such as Michael Flatley, Frances Black, and the late Dr. Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned performer, Fionán creates an inclusive, engaging atmosphere. Lessons can be delivered in English, Irish, or French.

Our interactive Irish dance workshop offers an authentic cultural experience — with the emphasis on fun!

✔️ Suitable for all ages and abilities
✔️ No prior dance experience needed
✔️ The tutor dances with the group to guide you every step of the way

Workshops typically run 1 to 2 hours (minimum of 10 participants), and include:

– A short intro to Céilí dancing, a lively and social style of native Irish dance
– Easy-to-learn steps taught in a fun and supportive way
– Partner rotation so everyone gets involved
– Each dance is taught slowly first, then repeated together with pre-recorded traditional Irish music

**What to wear:**
Comfortable clothing and footwear are advised. A smooth sole helps with stepping and sliding — trainers, flat shoes, or socks work well.

Many hotels have a suitable space available for hosting the workshop. If your venue does not, we can help arrange an alternative location (please note: room hire fees may apply).

**Optional add-on:**
Enhance the experience with a live Céilí Band of traditional Irish musicians — providing music for the dancing and additional entertainment before or after the session.
